Off Topic / 10 Ways the NSA is Spying on You in 2019
« on: February 25, 2019, 07:36:13 AM »
Just came across this page about NSA Spying. Damn! The surveillance is going to eat us alive.
THIS PART BELOW…

Building Backdoors – NSA’s Favorite Pass Time
We all know about the famous FBI-Apple incident back in 2016. It was back then when Apple turned down FBI’s request to access data on an iPhone confiscated on the crime scene of San Bernardino shooters incident. Apple’s response accompanied a backlash to which Cook responded: “No one would want a master key built that would turn hundreds of millions of locks, even if that key was in the possession of the person that you trust the most…that key could be stolen”.

Obviously, that is one side of the coin. As per Snowden’s revelations, the NSA spends over 200 million dollars a year to make devices’ security vulnerable. Such mammoth amount is spent on collaborations with tech giants – creating backdoors for surveillance.

Another incident brought in the limelight was NSA-RSA collaboration where National Security Agency paid RSA USD $10 million to create a backdoor and distribute compromised encryption tools. Over the years, RSA has been claiming that their relationship with the NSA has changed, however, we strongly believe in this notion: once a thief, always a thief.

Of course, these are a few known incidents. There must be hundreds of such collaborations that we are not aware of. Alliances that are still operational, and spying on us along with the NSA, from the shadows.

So, A few days back when I was downloading a movie from torrent & it was seeding at it's best but the other day torrenting stopped and it wasn't working anymore. After researching on the internet and reviewing other people's queries. I came to realize that my ISP has blocked my ports which wasn't allowing the torrent to begin. Then, finally, I found the solution that Port Forwarding will solve this issue once in for all.
By the time, I was using PureVPN so while connected to VPN, I can't unblock the ports so the customer support told me that I would have to buy a Port Forwarding addon in my subscription then I would be able to unblock the ports and the configuration is very easy.
Thanks to Google that solution to every problem is now on my fingertips.
I am dropping a source. If any of you guys face such issue then do read it once. It will help you understand what is port forwarding and how it works.

Off Topic / How to perform a DNS Leak Test?
« on: August 08, 2018, 03:30:10 AM »
Ever performed a DNS leak test? I do almost twice in a week to see if my VPN is still working properly or not.

How to check DNS Leak:
  • Go to google and search What is my IP
Note down the IP Address in Notepad or write it on a paper.
    Connect your VPN.
Now repeat the point no. 1 again & note the IP Address shown this time.

NOTE: If both IP Addresses aren't same then your VPN isn't leaking DNS.

First, it was HMA then PureVPN was dragged and now IPVanish.
IPVanish has also released the official statement on this issue here at Blog.
I read the HMA statement as well on their Blog and PureVPN's official release on their
https://www.purevpn.com/blog/vpn-logs-explained/ VPN Logging Issue as well.

IPVanish, a VPN provider that for years claimed a strict no-logging policy, led Homeland Security to a suspect using a Comcast IP address, court papers filed in 2016 reveal. StackPath, the new operator of IPVanish, informs TorrentFreak that they won't speak on behalf of the former team who have long since left the company. Assurances of security have been promised for the future, however.

Get a Brief Overview of PPTP by learning what is PPTP VPN and How it works?
Quote
What is PPTP?
PPTP stands for Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol. Developed by Microsoft, it is the oldest yet the most commonly used protocol on both LAN and WAN networks. The protocol uses 128-bit encryption which may not be as secure as 256-bit, but it is better than no encryption at all.
