VPN Reviews / Surfshark VPN review
« on: December 21, 2018, 06:10:34 AM »
Surfshark VPN is a new player in the market but it came in like a wrecking ball. I'll point out the most important features it supports.

First, they have been audited by independent cybersecurity experts, they checked Surfsharks chrome and firefox extensions and the results were magnificent. Read about it here

Direct link to the deal here.

What they offer:

A great discount, 83% OFF, 1.99$/month for 2-year plan.
Access to major streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, BBC, HULU, HotStar etc)
Strict no-logs policy (They are based in the British Virgin Islands with no data-retention laws)
Supports unlimited devices.
CleanWeb feature (malware/tracker/phishing protection, AdBlock);
Whitelist apps to bypass VPNs servers if needed (Uber for example)
MultiHop (that's DoubleVPN feature);
Kill Switch;
500+ high-speed servers, all obfuscated;
Uses OpenVPN and IKEv2 protocol, very fast connection speed to the servers (I'm attaching server speeds, but picked the one nearby and my plan is good).
Ping allows online gaming.
The only thing lacking is a Linux client, but I think they'll develop it in due time because they released support for Android TV and Amazon Firestick, Linux app would be a logical conclusion for next update.

Last, but not least, if you purchase it you can choose to donate to the Surfrider Foundation to clean up the oceans and Surfshark will double that amount. I've been following closely their development and so far it looks like a really professional team.

And just an example why you might need a VPN, check out this terrible event in Sudan and how a VPN can help.

Have a nice and safe Christmas everyone!

VPN Discussion / Surfshark teams up with Surfrider to clean the oceans
« on: December 07, 2018, 07:54:27 AM »
A pleasant surprise, Surfshark just announced that for this Christmas they will be teaming with Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit oriented at cleaning up the oceans. Check it out on their landing page

https://surfshark.com/christmas?coupon=sharkxmas

Their Christmas deal comes at a good 1.99$/month price for a 2-y plan, additionally you can choose to donate 1, 5 or 25$ to cleaning up the oceans and Surfshark will double that amount! It's a great chance to get a really reliable VPN and secure your privacy online and help good guys to care for the environment.

Paid VPN Services / Surfshark 83% OFF for this Black Friday
« on: November 21, 2018, 04:22:08 AM »
A new VPN player in an already harsh market is beating the competition by providing high-quality services and giving a serious discount, going for only 1.99$/month. Read about the deal and 3 other good deals on this list.

Even though the software is not even a year old, they have all the necessary features and more. There's a kill switch, MultiHop (a double VPN), CleanWeb (adBlock plus malware and tracker protection+malicious site blacklist), strict no-logs policy (they're based in the British Virgin Island, no data retention laws), 500+ high-speed servers to choose from. And two final nails in the coffin: unlimited device support (one account and set it up wherever you want for no additional cost) and split tunneling (white-list certain applications to bypass VPN, for example, uber, for your exact location) These two are rarely seen in other VPNs so Surfshark is putting extra effort to deliver extraordinary services. Recently they willingly went through a cybersecurity audit and were confirmed as safe and secure VPN. Black Friday is this Friday, and I can personally recommend their services.

VPN Discussion / Surfshark goes through an audit, an uncommon occasion?
« on: November 20, 2018, 09:10:57 AM »
So I've been posting about Surfshark a bit lately, not only because I use it and I like it, but also because they've been actively releasing important news about their software. But I didn't really expect to see this:

Surfshark audit report

As far as I understand they went through this audit willingly, and I haven't seen a VPN do that before. Both minor vulnerabilities are tied to HTTP conversion to https, and though I don't like the first one (where they send an e-mail with HTTP reference), these aren't any serious accusations. Overall feedback is positive, nothing about keeping any logs at all. I trusted their services anyway, but I'm interested if these audits can become more common? Not only can it be used to discover unknown flaws in the software, but it also helps to inform the public about the quality of the product. I know TunnelBear just went through a similar audit, any more VNS announced something alike?

VPN Discussion / Surfshark releases macOS app
« on: November 16, 2018, 05:57:25 AM »
I've been using Surfshark and following its development for a while. Considering this VPN is about half-a-year old, it has all necessary implementations: KillSwitch, MultiHop (bouncing between two servers), CleanWeb feature (AdBlock+blacklist of malicious websites) etc. Two days ago they released macOS app, read about it here. Maybe it will be useful for Apple lovers, I'm not using Mac myself so if anybody tries it out feel free to leave feedback in the comments.
