Title: Elmnet VPN solution
Post by: rajesh on August 15, 2013, 04:37:07 AM
Out here in Kuwait, there is an company, Elmnet, which provides free DSL Internet to home.

The catch is that, they provide a router (SMC make) and also ask the users to install a client called Elmnet client in order to access the internet. This client connects the PC to the Internet.

The router indicator should that Internet is working, but unless you start the VPN Elment client, you cannot browse any sites.

Also we cannot access the Internet thru any smartphone, even when you get strong signals from the WiFi of the router.

Is there any means to bypass this?

Their servers are probably only routing traffic from the VPN client to the Internet. If that is the case then there is no way you can bypass that.

Do they also have a VPN client for your smarthpone? If their VPN client is using PPTP or OpenVPN chances are you can use 3rd party clients on your smartphone and even on your PC to connect to their VPN servers.

Maybe you can post the Elmnet client here so we can check if there is a way to bypass it.
